You see them each time you drop your little one to nursery or preschool. They know your child inside and out but how well do you know your child’s nursery teacher? Let’s find out....

What are your favourite things about working at Orchidale? 

Our offsite Forest School – it’s such a wonderful environment for children to explore and I’m very proud of what the team have achieved there! 

What is your favourite colour?  

Teal 

What do you like to do in your spare time? 

I enjoy playing baritone horn as part of Taverham Brass Band and performing in different concerts. 

What is the best thing about working with children? 

No two days are the same! You never know what ideas children are going to bring to the table and I love thinking of creative ways to support their play! 

What is the toughest thing about working with children? 

When little ones are feeling poorly, I just want to make them all better. 

What is the bravest thing you have done? 

Asking for help. I think it’s the bravest thing anyone can do! 

If you were famous, what would you be famous for? 

I would be a famous aviator! I love traveling and have previously flown a light aircraft and would like to get my pilot’s license! 

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells Part 1 - it’s just a masterpiece of music! 

What do you do to relax? 

Cooking authentic Indian food with my husband, we’re both massive foodies! 

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be? 

Olivia Colman is phenomenally versatile and it would be great to have my life portrayed by a Norfolk actress! 

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when… 

Everyone is dressed and ready to play outside, I love getting my waterproofs on and splashing in the biggest puddle I can find!

What are your favourite things about working at Orchidale? 

Working with the House Martin team and being in a space where ideas and emotions are discussed.  

What is your favourite colour? 

Green and pink  

What do you like to do in your spare time? 

I enjoy going for walk, in the woodlands and beaches, and also enjoying playing games on my Nintendo switch e.g. Animal Crossing  

What is the best thing about working with children? 

Sharing in laughter and being part of their development  

What is the toughest thing about working with children? 

People believing this is an easy job and all we do is “play”

What is the bravest thing you have done? 

Realising who I am, and knowing who my friends are and being able to disconnect from negative people.  Also saving my friend from a dangerous situation   

If you were famous, what would you be famous for? 

Something silly, like a TikTok video or meme going viral   

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

I had some help – Post Malone  

What do you do to relax? 

Spending time on my own, either watching a serios or going for a walk, listening to music.  

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

What are your favourite things about working at Orchidale? 

I love working with the House Martins team on a daily basis and seeing little ones grow and achieve 

 What is your favourite colour? 

Blue and Purple 

 What do you like to do in your spare time? 

Time outside! Camping, beach walks, skiing just to name a few! 

 What is the best thing about working with children? 

Seeing them achieve milestones and having the sense of pride when we have supported them 

 What is the toughest thing about working with children? 

The stereotyping of it being an ‘easy’ job when there are actually many aspects within childcare  

 What is the bravest thing you have done? 

Completing my first ever black slope in skiing (the hardest terrain) and standing at the top thinking I wouldn’t be able to get down and complete it but with determination I did it!  

 If you were famous, what would you be famous for? 

Olympic Skier

 If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

Far too many good songs and artists to choose from!! I couldn’t possibly choose one! 

 What do you do to relax? 

Listen to music, take a bath or sunbathe in the sunshine! 

 If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Deciding to change from A-levels to an apprenticeship

What are your favourite things about working at Orchidale? 

I love working with the House Martins team, and being outside. 

What is your favourite colour? 

Green 

What do you like to do in your spare time? 

Gardening and pets 

What is the best thing about working with children? 

Helping them develop and learn at their own pace, being there for them from such a young age and watching them develop into confident little people. The smiles and hugs that you get on a daily basis, knowing that they enjoy your company as much as you enjoy theirs. And finally, Little things the children come out with. 

What is the toughest thing about working with children? 

Every second can change so quickly and things can be so unpredictable. Also understanding and knowing how to deal with some behaviours.  

What is the bravest thing you have done? 

Paragliding… Carrying on with work and life as normal as possible when major things occur 

If you were famous, what would you be famous for? 

Being a gardener 

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

Human by The Killers 

What do you do to relax? 

Gardening, spending time with my family 

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be?

Shannon

What are your favourite things about working at Orchidale? 

I love getting to watch the children grow, all the way from our Wren room, through Robins and into House Martins. Each day is different with different challenges, triumphs and adventures. 

What is your favourite colour? 

My favourite colour is green.  

What do you like to do in your spare time? 

I love to plan my next adventure. Whether it’s visiting a new part of England or trying something new. My next adventure is to Turkey and I am very much looking forward to it! 

What is the best thing about working with children? 

There is always something to make you smile. Not one day is the same as another! 

What is the toughest thing about working with children? 

It is a hard job and it is sometimes seen as an easy option. I would say it's tough to feel undervalued. 

What is the bravest thing you have done? 

For me its going to the dentist. Seems small and simple for some… but something I hate! 

If you were famous, what would you be famous for? 

I would love to illustrate children’s books! So something artsy! 

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

That is a hard question and I’m not sure I have an answer!  

What do you do to relax? 

I love to read or watch a bit of TV. Below Deck is my current fave! 

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be? 

I asked my team and they agreed that Jennifer Lawrence would play a good Shannon.

What are your favourite things about working at Orchidale? 

Spending my day outside with a wonderful gaggle of children and staff 

What is your favourite colour?

Grey 

What do you like to do in your spare time? 

Reading, Geocaching and outdoor activities like hikes and camping with my husband Ant and little boy Riley. 

What is the best thing about working with children? 

You never know where the day will take you. You might be an explorer, builder, hairdresser or chef making the most delicious hot chocolate, but it’s all part of the children’s journey, and it’s wonderful to be part of it.  

What is the toughest thing about working with children? 

Singing the same nursery rhyme 12 times in a row because your heart can’t say no!

What is the bravest thing you have done? 

Held one of our chickens (and there’s a photo to prove it!) 

If you were famous, what would you be famous for? 

No thank you. I like supporting and encouraging those around me, I’m not sure about fame for myself.  

If you could listen to only one song for the rest of your life, what would it be? 

Muse - Supermassive Black Hole 

What do you do to relax? 

Read, sit in my little garden 

If a celebrity could play you in a movie about your life, who would it be? 

Rachel Weisz

When a child (or group of children) see you arrive at work and then wait by the door to say good morning first. Gets me in the feels every time!
